ART OF THE EDGE

VIDEO: With Finland on its Western border the Karelian republic in Russia offers a unique Scandinavian similarity. The capitol of Karelia, Petrozavodsk, lies on the very shore of lake Onega. TVflux took a stroll on the lake promenade at the edge of the city centre on an extraordinary warm October day with temperatures almost reaching 15 degrees as the Karelians wondered whether this was spring or autumn, though, concluding that winter will come in the end. The lake promenade is covered with fine sculptuers showing Soviet as well as Karelian art.
