VIDEO: From around 1750 to 1850 the Germans fortified the city of Königsberg – today’s Kaliningrad. During the Second World War the German city was almost destroyed by British air force and later Soviet artillery attacks. Only 20% of the city was still standing in 1945 when city and the region became a part of the Soviet Union. But many parts of the old German fortification survived. Today left as relics or used for storage, shops, an Amber museum and even a discotheque.
